Heritage<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This village, founded in 1299, still preserves some of its cultural heritage. Its picturesque medieval old quarter is a superb combination of popular maritime architecture and more refined and palatial buildings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, many believe that the town\u2019s landmark monument is the footbridge of Plentzia, an arch bridge that connects the Bilbao metro station to the town centre, inviting visitors to discover its seafaring heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Plasentia de Butr\u00f3n Foundation founded the museum in 1988. The beach of Plentzia is one of the most frequented sand stretches on the Biscayan coastline. It is found in a beautiful bay, next to the mouth of the estuary and very close to the town centre.<\/span><\/p>\n

Port of Plentzia<\/h3>\n

The port of Plentzia, officially known as \u201cLa Gallarda\u201d, was originally a trading port and eventually took part in the fishing industry. Mooring in the bay was always difficult, so the only shelter was and continues to be the estuary, which is now dotted with leisure craft.<\/span><\/p>\n
