Designed by engineer Javier Manterola and built in 1991, it replaced the old bridge, which had been destroyed during the floods of August 1983. This event had an impact on the entire Bilbao metropolitan area, particularly the old quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The right bank of the estuary is spotted with small vessels and offers a very pleasant promenade. The estuary forms a beautiful natural bay that includes the beaches of Gorliz and Plentzia. At the end of the promenade, in Gorliz, we find the petrified dunes, which are of great geological value.
