Every year, hundreds of visitors come to Plentzia attracted by its beautiful estuary, beach and port, as well as its picturesque old town.<\/p>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\t

Heritage<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This village, founded in 1299, still preserves some of its cultural heritage. Its picturesque medieval old quarter is a superb combination of popular maritime architecture and more refined and palatial buildings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, many believe that the town\u2019s landmark monument is the footbridge of Plentzia, an arch bridge that connects the Bilbao metro station to the town centre, inviting visitors to discover its seafaring heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

History<\/h2>\n

The town of Plentzia was founded by Don L\u00f3pez de Haro II around 1236 at the site of an ancient population centre located on the hill. It was named Plasencia -or Plasentia- in reference to the town\u2019s port.<\/span><\/p>\n

This austere Gothic church was built between the 15th<\/sup> century and the beginning of the 16th<\/sup> century. It has a rectangular floor plan and 3 naves separated by pillars but no vaulting.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n
