It has a rectangular floor plan and 3 naves separated by pillars but no vaulting. This temple is one of the splendid architectural works that can be visited in the old quarter of the town. The robust bell tower served as a watch tower over the estuary. The outside of the building stands out because of its solid structure in the form of a cubic prism. It is known that Mart\u00edn S\u00e1enz de Gareca built the tower; however we still do not know for sure whether he built the rest of the building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The interior features a wooden coffered ceiling designed by Severino de Achucarro in 1887 and carried out by the local contractor Mart\u00edn Gonz\u00e1lez de Durana. Several religious sculptures of its initial decoration have been preserved, such as the Recumbent Christ, the Penitent Magdalene and Saint Peter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also notable are the shell-shaped baptismal font, of unknown origin and the real size boat that hangs from the coffered ceiling. This latter element is a typical offering found in of coastal towns intended to request protection.
